You’re Welcome, Internet | October 31-November 4, 2011

Hola, target demographic! How’s life? Uh-huh, uh-huh… you’re right, those other demographics really don’t get it, do they? But we do, demographic. We do.

You’re welcome, Internet.

LEASK: Holy cats, you guys! This week has been insane. Last Friday, I wrote an article about and somewhat critical of The AV Club that went up on Monday, and by Tuesday, the site’s traffic was insane and it’s stayed high all week. Before long, a couple of comments from actual AV Club writers appeared on the site very politely disagreeing with my article, and I caught snippets of the Twitter discussion surrounding it. To my incredible surprise and pleasure, the discussion I had with both Rowan and Todd was polite, reasonable and productive. I walked away with a great amount of respect for them (and the site), as well as a feeling that a real discussion had occurred. Today, I was similarly surprised to see that the article got mentioned in one of Myles McNutt’s reviews of The Office and that the resulting discussion of it amongst AV Club commenters - who I am honestly kind of afraid of - was also supportive and reasonable.

It’s like I don’t even know you, Internet.

Basically, this turned into the biggest week on the site yet and one in which I felt like was a really good learning experience. Thanks again to Rowan and Todd (as well as Zack and Myles elsewhere) for being so great and for taking the time to respond so rationally to an article that they really could have just told to fuck off. It’s been a great week, and I’m looking forward to coming at it - with a renewed focus on comics next week.

SCHATZ: Yeah, after the last couple of weeks, I think we’re due for a Comics! The Blog Loves All The Comics week, in which we um… we uh…

Dang, I lost my train of thought. I’m pretty sure I’ll figure out where I was going eventually. Somehow.

In the meantime, the SINDIECATE recently has a Casanova week, so if you want to see artists such as David Lafuente, Mike Choi and Ryan Ottley draw some things from that series, just CLICK THE FUCK HERE PLEASE.

Also, I have to apologize for my lack of, uh… expedience here over the last couple of weeks? C!TB’s lighter content is all down to me and my various time management troubles. But hey, we have an interview ready to go up on Monday with one of my favourite creators and the whole week is going to be chock-a-block filled with comic book love, so there’s that! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to finish up the week by not going to jail for stabbing some Magic customers in the eyes so that I may spend some more quality time with my special lady friend.

No, it’s not James.

I’m his special lady friend.

You have been reading Comics! The Blog. This concludes our broadcast week.
